Workflow Overview
We capture high-resolution aerial imagery using the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) with RTK and a base station to ensure centimeter-level accuracy during image acquisition. The RTK-enabled flight workflow significantly reduces the need for extensive Ground Control Points (GCPs) while still delivering highly accurate geospatial results.
Once data is captured, we process the imagery using either DJI Terra or RealityCapture, depending on project requirements.
- DJI Terra is ideal for fast, high-accuracy processing within DJI’s ecosystem and is well suited for typical terrain modeling and straightforward 3D reconstructions.
- RealityCapture offers advanced capabilities for detailed mesh generation, textured 3D models, and large-area projects where precision and resolution are critical.
Both platforms generate dense point clouds, textured 3D meshes, orthomosaics, and elevation models that serve as the foundation for downstream use.
Visualization & Interactive Model Access (via Nira)
To deliver a smooth and intuitive 3D experience to our clients, we host models on Nira, a browser-based 3D model viewer designed for performance and accessibility. Clients receive a secure link to view and interact with the model online — no downloads or special software required.
With Nira, clients can:
- Pan, zoom, and rotate high-resolution textured 3D models
- Measure distances, surface areas, and object heights directly within the viewer
- Annotate and comment for collaboration between project teams
- Toggle overlays or model layers (when applicable)
This provides stakeholders with actionable 3D insights without needing photogrammetry software on their end.
Deliverables & File Formats
We tailor all deliverables to your project scope and technical requirements. Standard exports include:
- 3D Models in OBJ, FBX, or PLY (for CAD/BIM workflows)
- Orthomosaics in GeoTIFF, suitable for GIS and planning applications
- Digital Surface Models (DSM) and optionally DTMs in GeoTIFF or LAS
- Point Clouds in LAS or XYZ format
- Web-based 3D viewer link hosted via Nira
- Optional PDF summary reports with project scope and overview screenshots
All deliverables are georeferenced in your preferred coordinate system for seamless integration into CAD, GIS, or BIM environments.
Applications & Use Cases
Our 3D modeling and photogrammetry solutions support a variety of professional applications, including:
- Construction: As-built documentation, volume tracking, facade modeling, site layout
- Mining & Aggregates: Surface and stockpile modeling, pit expansion documentation
- Land Development: Visualizing terrain for grading, subdivision, and conceptual design
- Forestry & Environmental: Vegetation structure modeling, erosion tracking, terrain change analysis
- Infrastructure: Digital twins of bridges, culverts, roads, and utility corridors
Accuracy & Limitations
Accuracy depends on factors such as image quality, flight planning, surface conditions, and processing parameters. With RTK and well-planned flight execution, typical horizontal and vertical accuracy is within 3–5 cm, suitable for most engineering and planning tasks.
- Surfaces like water, glass, and dense vegetation may result in data voids or artifacts in the model
- Photogrammetry-based models represent visible surfaces — they do not penetrate vegetation or provide underground structure
- GCPs can be incorporated where RTK signal availability is limited or when additional vertical control is required
We always discuss intended use, accuracy expectations, and coordinate systems prior to project start to ensure deliverables meet client needs.
