Workflow Overview
Our process starts with high-resolution drone photogrammetry, capturing detailed elevation data across the site. We use VirtualSurveyor to process this data into accurate Digital Surface Models (DSM) and Digital Terrain Models (DTM). This allows us to clean terrain, define breaklines, generate custom contour intervals, and isolate ground-level features. Cut/fill zones, slope classes, and drainage flowlines can be calculated directly from these models.
Mapping & Visualization
Once terrain data is cleaned and classified, we import it into QGIS to build final map products. QGIS allows us to apply color ramps for slope and elevation, generate hillshades, and overlay spatial context such as parcel boundaries, roads, or zoning layers. This step transforms raw terrain data into a visually readable, cartographically styled topographic map tailored to your project needs.

Accuracy & Limitations
Our topographic outputs are based on aerial photogrammetry and surface reconstruction techniques, not ground-based survey-grade LiDAR. While accurate enough for preliminary planning, cut/fill estimates, and concept design, they are not certified survey products. However, accuracy can be improved through the use of ground control points (GCPs) or RTK-based capture.
